Star Wars on the Disney Cruise Line in 2016

In a galaxy (not so) far, far away, Star Wars will board Disney Cruise Line‘s Disney Fantasy for eight select sailings during the first months of 2016.

Star Wars Day at Sea will take place once per theme cruise, no doubt celebrating the highly anticipated release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakes, scheduled for release just before in December 2015.

This will be the first time Disney’s newly acquired franchise and its beloved characters will appear at sea. Besides exclusive merchandise and themed food and drinks that will be available, a Forceful set of fun activities are planned for the festivities as described below:

Meet-and-Greets

Making special appearances, strolling the decks and greeting passengers on the Disney Fantasy, will be Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers and other Star Wars characters. The cruise line even encourages guests to dress up as their favorites themselves.

Film Screenings and Celebrity Appearances

Screenings of the first six Star Wars films will be scheduled throughout the day, and while no mention of Episode VII has been made yet, surely it, as with all Disney first-run films, will be onboard as well. Episodes of the new animated series Star Wars Rebels will be played also.

No specific Star Wars celebrities and insiders have been announced yet, but a number of them will be on the Disney Fantasy for sharing experiences, meeting fans and signing autographs.

Star Wars Deck Party and Fireworks

The climax of Star Wars Day at Sea will be a special deck party complete with music, dancing and games plus appearances by the galactic characters in an interactive special effects-filled show. The evening will blast off with a Star Wars fireworks display featuring pyrotechnics, lighting, sound effects and lasers.

More For Kids

Similar to the in-park attraction, the Jedi Training Academy will instruct children in the ways of the Force to learn lightsaber maneuvers from a Jedi Master and test their new skills against Darth Vader.

The Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab kids facilities will also feature Star Wars-themed arts and crafts, games and other activities.

More For Families

Together, children and adults will have the opportunity to test their Star Wars knowledge with playful franchise film and television trivia.

More For Adults

Europa bar area will be more reminiscent of Mos Eisley when adults step into the nightclub, dance to cantina tunes and enjoy themed cocktails.

Star Wars Day at Sea is scheduled on the Disney Fantasy for the following seven-night Western Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral: January 9, 23; February 6, 20; March 5, 19; April 2 and 16, 2016.

Big fun, Big Price

Star Wars Day at Sea sure sounds like a big draw. And that means big prices and a rapid increase in rates as the dates get closer. Pricing for 2 adults (best value is January 9—January 23rd): starts at $2,822 for an inside stateroom, Outside stateroom $2,933, Verandah $3,423. Prices vary by sailing.
