William Shatner: Captain of the Star Trek Cruise
From captain of the USS Enterprise to cruise captain, William Shatner’s ready to lead trekkies to the final frontier … the sea.
On January 9, 2017, Star Trek: The Cruise will launch from Miami on the Norwegian Pearl. The six-day cruise is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the galactic franchise, and it’s Captain Kirk’s job to lead the enterprise, though, instead of space, it’s Cozumel, Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay (Norwegian’s private island).
Shatner, after hearing about the authorization of the first ever Star Trek cruise, said “… I just new that my participation would be something that our fans would enjoy. It should be a lot of fun.”
Other stars also destined to board the ship include Marina Sirtis, Denise Crosby and Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek: The Next Generation; Robert Picardo from Star Trek: Voyager; James Darren from Deep Space Nine and John de Lancie from The Next Generation, Voyager and Deep Space Nine. Of course, the Enterprise Blues Band is scheduled to perform on board.
There have been other Star Trek fan cruises over the years, but this is the first both sanctioned by CBS and with the actors participating in cruise activities. The ship will even be decked out as film locations.
Norwegian anticipates 2,200 fans to join in on the fun. The current rate for the six-day adventure is $975 per person. This isn’t fantasy—this is reality.
