For Central, Tsim Sha Tsui Hotels, An Easy Commute To 2015 Hong Kong Tennis Open
Taking place from 10 to 18 October 2015, the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open is a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) sanctioned International Series Event. Over 40 of the world’s best female tennis players will be on court in singles and doubles action for prize money of US$250,000.
For those visiting Hong Kong for the event, Victoria Park Tennis Stadium is a convenient ride on the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) from many Central, Wan Chai and Tsim Sha Tsui hotels of only a few stations in journey length. Those staying in Tsim Sha Tsui who fancy an iconic and picturesque trip to the stadium can take a Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour from Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier to Wan Chai Star Ferry Pier and then continue by the MTR.
The streets of Kowloon’s bustling tourist district of Tsim Sha Tsui pulsate day and night with all manner of shops, restaurants, tailors, brand name outlets and glitzy department stores. The area is also home to more than half of the Top 10 Hong Kong Attractions as listed on the Hong Kong Tourism Board website, these being the Avenue of Stars, the Ladies’ Market, Temple Street Night Market, Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple and the Clock Tower.
Accommodation-wise, Tsim Sha Tsui boasts leading Hong Kong luxury hotels like Tsim Sha Tsui and Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel Towers, The Peninsula Hong Kong and Hyatt Regency Hong Kong together with some of the best design and boutique hotels Hong Kong has to offer.
Residence G Hong Kong (by Hotel G) is one of the most popular of these hip, lifestyle-oriented Tsim Sha Tsui hotels. Situated a short walk from the MTR (as are many of the hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui), guests at this 43-room property enjoy a cutting edge, in-vogue style hotel experience where even the rooms are chicly categorized into Good, Greater and Greatest.
The MTR stations to exit for Victoria Park Tennis Stadium are Tin Hau Station (and the Hing Fat Street exit) and Causeway Bay Station (Gloucester Road Exit).
Along with American seven time Grand Slam Champion Venus Williams, former World No. 1 and two time Grand Slam Champion Victoria Azarenka, France’s top player and World No. 27 Alizé Cornet and defending champion Sabine Lisicki of Germany, other players to compete in the Hong Kong Tennis Open 2015 include Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard, Spanish World No. 9 Garbiñe Muguruza and French ace Caroline Garcia.
Community and public engagement initiatives are also a part of the Hong Kong Tennis Open. In addition to free tickets for schools and other groups, the first day of the main draw (12 October) will be known as ‘People’s Monday’ and offer free admission to the public for all matches. There’s also free admission for Court 1 and 2 matches throughout the tournament as well as for the qualifying event on 10 and 11 October.
Open to the public for the first time will be the Tournament Village located next to the stadium, from 12 to 18 October. Here fans can have fun with tennis-based games and activities, watch the Open action on the big screen, enjoy food and beverage and attend star player autograph sessions.
