LGBT-dedicated cruise line launches

Anteros Cruises, a new cruise line dedicated to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, announced it will launch service with Mediterranean and Caribbean sailings in April 2017.

The Miami-based line did not reveal many details about its vessels other than to say sailings would be “onboard an intimate, 400-passenger luxury yacht-like ship.” The company said more information would be provided in the coming weeks.

Anteros said it plans to pay commissions and will offer training webinars for travel agents, as well.

“Every aspect of the Anteros Cruises experience is designed with LGBT community members in mind. Our number one priority is making our guests feel comfortable, relaxed, and open, so they can be themselves while enjoying our luxury yacht-like cruise experience,” David Huang, director of Anteros Cruises, said in a release.

The line will offer “premium itineraries and service across a wide range of price points to deliver on its promise of inclusivity,” the company stated. It plans on sailing to smaller ports in exotic destinations on a year-round basis with itineraries ranging from five to 14 days. Anteros will sail the Mediterranean during the summer and fall months, with Barcelona and Piraeus, Greece, serving as its homeports. Caribbean homeports during the winter months will include St. Maarten and Colon, Columbia.

Onboard, the company said the ship would offer designer interiors, personalized service, a higher-than-average staff-to-guest ratio and Internet connectivity. Itineraries will be customized for the LGBT community with LGBT-oriented events such as Pride celebrations included.  

In addition to the LGBT community, their friends, family and supporters will also be welcomed on board.
