Airlines announce new or expanded Caribbean service

Three
carriers have announced new or expanded services from the U.S. to the
Caribbean. 

Norwegian
Air will resume its seasonal winter service on Nov. 10 from Baltimore, Boston and New York to Martinique and Guadeloupe, following its first winter season
to both destinations.

The
schedule calls for three nonstops a week to each island from JFK and two
flights a week from Baltimore and Boston.

“If
demand continues to grow, we hope to make this a year-round service,” said Thomas
Amdahl, chief commercial officer.

Southwest
Airlines will launch a daily service between Fort Lauderdale and Nassau
on Aug. 7. JetBlue
and Bahamas Air currently provide daily service on the route.

National
Airlines is doubling its service between Orlando Sanford Aand San Juan
on March 13.

The
carrier will offer twice-weekly flights on Sundays and Thursdays to San Juan
with return on Mondays and Fridays at 6 a.m.

National
currently offers two flights a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays with same-day
return from San Juan.

One-way
fares start at $89.

On
June 1, National will launch twice-weekly service between Orlando Sanford and
Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, which will be followed on July 1 by four flights a week
from MacArthur Airport in Islip, N.Y., to San Juan and two weekly flights from
Islip to Aguadilla.
