A quick review of Caribbean travel destinations reveals several outstanding values available at signature resorts on several of the region’s most sought-after islands. In some cases the enhanced amenities, services and facilities, combined with discounted rates and resort credits, are available at some of the Caribbean’s very best resorts.
That’s certainly the case in Anguilla, where the CuisinArt Resort Spa is offering guests who book stays through April 30 a choice of one 18-hole round of golf per person, a $500 spa credit or two dinners for two any of the luxury property’s five restaurants.
The CuisinArt resort is a beachside, Mediterranean-style boutique property featuring 98 suites and villas surrounded by lush gardens. The resort combines spa-based relaxation and rejuvenation with exceptional culinary options that incorporate the resort’s hydroponic farm. Facilities include the award-winning Venus Spa and an 18-hole championship golf course.
Under its “Summer Only in Cayman” promotion, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) is partnering with top island resorts including the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort Spa, the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and Le Soleil d’Or, to offer free nights to travelers who book stays from now through June 30, 2016 for travel between May 1 and Aug. 31, 2016.
The Westin Grand Cayman is offering a fifth free night to guests who book four nights, plus a resort credit, free meals for children under 12 and discounts on Red Sail Sports excursions. The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is offering guests a fifth night free and boutique resort Le Soleil d’Or is offering a free night to guests who book six nights.
The program also features free admission for children to selected Cayman Island attractions; 20 percent off regular admission rates at historic Pedro St. James Castle and lush Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park.
Barbados’ Crop Over Festival is the island’s number one annual celebration, a traditional harvest festival which began among slaves on sugar cane plantations during the colonial period. Crop Over, which this year takes place between June 4 and Aug. 1, has since evolved into a national festival similar to Carnival in other parts of the Caribbean, highlights the island’s culture and attracts celebrities including Barbados native Rihanna plus international travelers and locals.
The Mango Bay Barbados resort is offering off-season room pricing during this year’s Crop Over celebration, with all-inclusive rates starting at $535 per room, per night, double occupancy for travel between May 1 and Dec. 14. The discounted rates represent a savings of 20 percent off the hotel’s high-season rates.
Marking the culmination of the island’s sugarcane season, Crop Over is a Bajan tradition dating back to the 1780’s when the island was the world’s largest producer of sugar. The festival was originally created to celebrate the success of the sugarcane season and has since been revived with additional elements, including highlights of the island’s culture and attracting A-list celebrities such as Rihanna, along with travelers and locals.
Mango Bay’s contemporary style rooms and suites feature warm Caribbean colors, king-sized beds, iPod docking stations and cable television. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas.
In naturally beautiful Trinidad Tobago, Magdalena Grand Beach Golf Resort is offering a Mother’s Day package featuring two nights in an ocean-view deluxe room with a complimentary upgrade to a one-bedroom suite, based on availability. The package also includes welcome drinks on arrival, buffet breakfast for two, a Mother’s Day brunch, chocolate covered fruit, complimentary shuttle to Pigeon Point Beach, and return airport transfers. Rates start at $589 per room, double occupancy.
The Bahamas’ newest property, adults-only Warwick Paradise Island Bahamas, is offering guests “Early Bird” savings of 30 percent off stays booked by July 31 for travel beginning Oct. 1. The all-inclusive resort will offer Wi-Fi internet access from “beach to the bedroom” plus daily activities, nightly entertainment, use of non-motorized watersports and a fitness center.
Warwick Paradise accommodations feature individually controlled air-conditioning, mini-refrigerator, flat-screen television with cable, coffee/tea maker, hair dryer, electronic safe, clock radio, direct dial telephone with voicemail and Wi-Fi.
Another Bahamas all-inclusive resort, Breezes Resort Spa, is offering 50 percent off select dates throughout 2017 to travelers who book by Sept. 30, 2016. Rates start at just $126 per person, per night.
