For as little as $162 (round-trip) you can fly from any of these major cities on the Eastern seaboard to Guadeloupe and nearby Martinique, a quiet of islands in the French West Indies known for charming Francophile beach hotels. Departure dates for this trip range from mid November to December and can easily be booked through Kayak. 

If you prefer the British West Indies, consider a $263 round-trip summer vacation in Antigua. Flights are available from New York City to the island from May 17 until mid June. Expect to find intimate resorts with lush gardens and private islands (think: Jumby Bay) that have attracted celebs like Paul McCartney with rum punch and plantation-style decor.
