Top 20 romantic honeymoon destinations 2016

Get out the sunscreen, honeymooners. The world’s three most romantic honeymoon destinations this year are sunny French Polynesia, culturally rich Italy and laid-back St. Lucia, according to the June/July issue of Bride’s Magazine.

The reason French Polynesia keeps taking the top spot? Its over-water bungalows in Bora Bora, Tahiti and other islands. They are the “sexiest thing to happen to honeymooners since, well, ever,” the magazine says.

Other destinations, in order, named most romantic for honeymoons are Maui (Hawaii), South Africa, the Maldives, Mexico, Fiji, Kauai (Hawaii), Seychelles, Jamaica, Greece, Turks and Caicos, British Virgin Islands, Bali, Thailand, Hawaii (the big island), Nevis, France and the Dominican Republic.

Fortunately for Midwest couples, six of these destinations are right in our own comparatively inexpensive Caribbean back yard.
