Dramatic increase in KILLER disease at Caribbean Brit-holiday favourite

HOW TO AVOID IT

Unlike Malaria, which is also spread through mosquito bites there is no vaccine for dengue and prevention of mosquito bites is the only way to avoid it.

The Fit For Travel website recommends that you practice strict mosquito bite avoidance at all times, through a few recommended methods.

Insect Repellant is strongly recommended, and Advisory Committee for Malaria Prevention in Travellers (ACMP) strongly recommends DEET-based insect repellents.

You can also protect yourself by covering up, with loose layers that cover your arms and legs, and citronella oil can often be a way to discourage the insects from flying near you.
