Grand prize in Viking Cruises sweepstakes: $1 million

Viking Cruises has launched a sweepstakes in which a travel
agent will be awarded $1 million.

The drawing will be in April 2017.

Between Oct. 17 and March 31, agents will get one entry in
the sweepstakes for each qualified booking they make on Viking. The booking can
be for an ocean or river cruise.

The sweepstakes was announced at a trade event aboard the
Viking Star, which has a large number of travel agents onboard a transit cruise
from New York to San Juan.

“It’s better odds
than Powerball,” said Ralph Williams, a Cruise Planners franchisee in Elkhorn,
Neb.

The prize will be paid out in $100,000 increments over 10
years to reduce the tax liability, a Viking executive said.
