Un-Cruise’s Pacific Northwest sailings to focus on adventure
Un-Cruise Adventures said that the SS Legacy will do
one-way, eight-day adventure itineraries on the Columbia and Snake rivers in
2018.
Previously, the Pacific Northwest cruises had emphasized the
history of the region.
Next year, the Legacy will be re-equipped to offer kayaking,
paddle boarding, skiff excursions, hikes on remote trails and whitewater rafting
down the Deschutes River.
Rather than sailing roundtrip from Portland, the eight-day
cruises will be one-way from Portland to Lewiston, Idaho, or vice versa, with
an air option to Lewiston.
“In order to make it an UnCruise, we need to slow down,
take time to kayak, sightsee by skiff, and go hiking,” said CEO Dan
Blanchard. “We purposely build flexibility into our itineraries to make
each day the best day possible.”
In 2018, the Legacy will operate on the Snake and Columbia
from August through November. It will sail in Alaska from mid-April through
July.
Un-Cruise said that from October through mid-December 2017,
the Legacy will offer seven departures on a “Rivers of Wine”
itinerary sailing roundtrip from Portland with a guest wine expert and
sommelier on board for a week of winery tours and tastings.
