JetBlue adds fourth Caribbean route from Newark Liberty – USA Today
JetBlue is adding a new route to the Dominican Republic, continuing the carrier’s years-long expansion in the Caribbean market.
JetBlue’s latest Caribbean option will connect Newark Liberty to Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic. Flights will begin May 3, pending regulatory approval. JetBlue would fly one daily round-trip flight on the route using 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
JetBlue already offers service from both cities, but the new route connects two existing JetBlue destinations that were not previously served non-stop.

The Newark flights bolster JetBlue’s presence in the Dominican Republic, where the carrier says it currently “operates more daily flights than any other carrier.” Overall, JetBlue flies from the U.S. to five destinations there. Romana, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana and Santiago are its others in the Dominican Republic.
From Newark, Santo Domingo would become JetBlue’s fourth route to the Caribbean. The airline already flies year-round from the New Jersey airport to Santiago in the Dominican Republic and to San Juan in Puerto Rico. During the winter, JetBlue offers seasonal Saturday-only service between Newark and Barbados.
Beyond the planned Newark-Santiago route, JetBlue also offers a total of 10 daily flights to its five Dominican Republic cities from its busiest base at New York JFK.
