The Dutch island of Aruba has a coastal landscape contrasting some of the best beaches in the world with a desert landscape of cacti, aloe plants and dramatic divi-divi trees. Aruba is south of the Caribbean’s Hurricane Belt, which eases the minds of honeymooners booking travel during the Caribbean’s hurricane season, which generally peaks August through October.
Aruba is not an inexpensive destination, although there are ways to stretch your honeymoon dollar by choosing a boutique hotel away from the beach or booking a stay in an all-inclusive resort, where food, drinks and most activities are included in one upfront price.
Wherever you book, always ask about special packages for honeymooners, since these often include such perks as a complimentary bottle of champagne or a romantic dinner on the beach.
The Ritz Carlton, Aruba
The Ritz Carlton, Aruba, on the island’s famed Palm Beach, is a good choice for honeymooners seeking immaculate accommodations and sophisticated service, with the price tag to match. The 320-room hotel has four restaurants, including BLT Steak, as well as a spa, casino and two swimming pools. Honeymooners should take a close look at the Ocean Front Rooms, which feature sea views and balconies. The property’s Romance Escape package starts at $389 per night and includes daily breakfast, a 50-minute couple’s massage, and a sunset sail.
Bucuti Tara Beach Resort
Aruban sophistication can be found at the adults-only Bucuti Tara Beach Resort. Located on Eagle Beach, the 104-room resort provides lots of perks that add up to a chic honeymoon, from being greeted with a glass of champagne at check-in, to the resort’s impressive infinity-edge pool. Bucuti Tara Beach Resort is not all-inclusive and strives to create an oasis-like experience, so it doesn’t host groups or onsite weddings. There’s an onsite restaurant as well as a variety of eateries within walking distance of the resort. A helpful touch is the property’s Romance Concierges who can help plan activities at the resort as well as excursions throughout the island. Online rates start at $350 per night.

Manchebo Beach Resort Spa
The 72-room Manchebo Beach Resort Spa resort is on Eagle Beach, which is a more tranquil strand than popular Palm Beach. The resort is something of an icon in Aruba, welcoming guests since 1966. Romance-minded couples will want to consider booking a Deluxe Ocean Front Room that looks out on Eagle Beach. The resort has an optional Premium Culinary All-Inclusive program providing breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Guests who stay four nights or more receive a complimentary off-property dinner. Advertised rates are as low as $340 per night.
Divi Aruba All Inclusive
The all-inclusive option can be attractive for couples who wish to budget their vacation before leaving home, since meals and most activities are included in the rate. The Divi Aruba All Inclusive offers dining at 10 venues, which affords lots of variety during a honeymoon visit. The beachfront resort has 261 rooms and four Oceanfront Suites. There are also seven bars and five pools — including a step-down pool with in-pool lounges. Divi Aruba All Inclusive is a good choice for active honeymooners. In addition to a wide range of watersports on Druif Beach, the resort also has a 30-foot rock climbing wall, plus Zumba and yoga classes. Rates for the Divi Aruba All Inclusive honeymoon package start as low as $430 per night, per couple.
Boardwalk Hotel Aruba
If honeymooners on a budget can deal with being a short walk away from the beach, they should take a look at Boardwalk Hotel Aruba. The hotel has only 14 rooms and is tucked away in an intimate setting on the grounds of a former coconut plantation, with lots of greenery. The hotel has its own private beach area with lounge chairs on nearby Palm Beach. For optimum privacy, the One Bedroom Casitas are a good choice. These come with a separate bedroom, a kitchen and a private patio with hammock and barbecue grill. The hotel’s Romance Package add-on includes a champagne breakfast for two served in bed, and a choice between a sunset cruise and a three-course dinner for two on the beach. The Romance Package requires a minimum stay of three nights and is priced at $199 per couple per night.
Wonders
The very affordable Wonders is an adults-only property that is also away from the beach, and about a 10-minute walk to downtown Oranjestad, where numerous restaurants and shops await. The 10-room boutique hotel is located in a residential area and offers a pool fed by a natural spring, plus free Wi-Fi in the rooms and communal areas. The hotel also provides complimentary beach gear, including snorkeling equipment and lounge chairs at Palm Beach. Low-season rates are as low as $99 per night.
