So what cabins should you look for? According to the experts at Cruisemapper.com: “[The] quietest staterooms are far away as possible from congested public areas and venues.”
When booking a cruise, it’s also advisable to avoid opting for guaranteed cabins.
“These types of cabins are sold with a big discount on them (which is why they get booked),” cruise specialist websiteCruise Bulletin said.
“The cruise lines do tend to use them to fill up those ‘awkward’ spots that guests wouldn’t normally choose to book. These include cabins above the theatre, below the sundeck and next to the lifts are common examples.” This means you might arrive at your room to discover it’s very noisy or simply in a location you’re not comfortable with.
Another issue to be aware of is that some rooms may be very small indeed.
