Hotel reopenings crowd the Caribbean calendar

As fall moves toward the peak winter season in the Caribbean, more and more hotels are plumping up the pillows, lining up the lounge chairs and restocking the bars in anticipation of the reopenings of their sanitized doors, guestrooms, pools. restaurants, fitness centers, yoga pavilions and gift shops.

Here’s the latest:

Four Seasons Resort Nevis will reopen Nov. 1 following a six-month closure, during which resort staff helped feed frontline workers, donated clothes to those in need in the community, collected backpacks for school children and organized resort cleanups to pick up trash and other debris on the property.

The resort, with 189 rooms and suites and more than 50 villas, features newly designed guestrooms, three infinity pools, two miles of beach, a championship golf course, a tennis center and several restaurants and offers an extended stay package and workcation programs with remote learning support for families with kids.

In the Dominican Republic, AMResorts kicked off October with the reopenings of Dreams Dominicus La Romana and Dreams Punta Cana. By the end of the month, AMResorts will have eight resorts back on stream in the DR, including Zoetry Agua Punta Cana, Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana, Sunscape Puerto Plata, Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana, Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana and Secrets Cap Cana Resort Spa.

Also in the DR, the 670-room Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach in La Romana reopened with renovated guestrooms, lobby, four pools and several dining venues. Club Med Punta Cana is set to reopen on Oct. 17.

In the Bahamas, the Abaco Beach Resort in Marsh Harbour reopens on Nov. 1, following an extensive renovation and expansion to its 94 rooms, suites and condo residences following Hurricane Dorian. The resort’s Boat Harbor marina now includes 200 slips, an electricity upgrade and a refueling station.

Club Med La Caravelle in Guadeloupe reopens Oct. 17, although the country’s border has not yet reopened to any visitors.

Club Med Turkoise in Turks and Caicos on Grace Bay Beach welcomes its guests on Oct. 24.

Petit St. Vincent Resort, the 115-acre private island resort with 22 one- and two-bedroom cottages in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, reopens on Nov. 1.

Sandals ushers in five more resort reopenings this month: Sandals Grenada; Sandals South Coast and Sandals Royal Plantation in Jamaica; Sandals Royal Barbados, and Beaches Turks Caicos.

Sandals Grande Antigua; Sandals Montego Bay; Sandals Royal Caribbean; Sandals Negril; Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Regency LaToc have already opened, bringing the total to 11 resorts across the region.
