Travel news latest: Caribbean countries close borders to Britons

More than 40 countries have imposed restrictions on UK arrivals due to fears over a new Covid variant, and that number is likely to grow.

Within Europe, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Switzerland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Romania, Austria, Portugal, Latvia, Luxembourg, Finland, Denmark, Turkey, Russia and the Netherlands have halted, or have said they will soon halt, flights arriving from the UK.

The Czech Republic and Greece have imposed stricter quarantine measures for people arriving from Britain.

Beyond Europe, Canada, Kuwait, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Israel, Chile, Iran, Jordan, Peru, India, Argentina, Morocco, Thailand, Tunisia, Oman, Colombia and Saudi Arabia are also suspending flights from the UK. El Salvador is barring entry to anyone who has visited the UK in the preceding 30 days.
