ApartmentGuide.com names New Orleans top spot for staycationing

It’s not surprising that a pandemic hinders travel plans. Sitting on a plane while trying to maintain six feet of social distancing or heading to the downtown area of a big city could easily continue the spread and no one wants that.

However, New Orleans ranks among the best cities in the world. OK, maybe we’re giving it that honor for this year (and every year), but for myriad reasons it consistently ranks on many travel-related lists that spotlight cities. So, when New Orleans landed on ApartmentGuide.com’s list for the top 10 staycation cities in the country, we weren’t surprised.

Since the coronavirus, planning a bachelorette trip, honeymoon or pre-wedding getaway can be difficult as phases change and the situation varies as to whether a location can even stay open and operating. But, because we live in one of the best cities in the world, it’s easy to have a fun, local staycation in the Big Easy. Plus, now, more than ever, it’s important for us to spend our money on local businesses.

ApartmentGuide.com based its list on factors like a city’s walk and bike score; the number of hotels, spas, and so forth per capita; and the ever-important cost of a bottle of wine, to name a few. New Orleans ranked No. 3 out of the top 10 cities, beating Austin, San Francisco and Miami. The report noted that the Crescent City sports dozens of attractions, nightlife options and those who maybe visit from out of town and fall in love with the city will pay on average $2,260 per month for a two-bedroom apartment (the more you know). ApartmentGuide.com only mentions the French Quarter and the Garden District as it’s top staycation neighborhoods, but New Orleans is made up of several neighborhoods and areas all offering a different vibe, types of restaurants, live music venues and more. We suggest staying in a hotel in one neighborhood, have dinner in another and do as many activities throughout the city as possible.

Staycations gives New Orleanians an opportunity to find a new appreciation for their city and couples the chance to celebrate their nuptials, even if it’s a little closer to home.
