Get To Know Some Of Regent Seven Seas’ Amazing Cruise Staff

There is so much to love about cruising. The ports! The cuisine! The spa!

But one of my absolute favorite things to do onboard is to meet the crew. I have met some of the most wonderful people in the whole world, as crew members aboard cruise ships, and it has been a privilege.

And I feel for them right now, in this COVID era — I worry about these folks. Many of them take cruise ship jobs because they simply cannot find any kind work in their home country. Many spend months at sea, away from their families, communicating with them only by email and Skype. Now that their cruise jobs are on hiatus, and they are back at home, I wonder what they are up to and how they are surviving.

Just announced, Regent Seven Seas Cruises launched a social media campaign that profiles the luxury cruise line’s beloved staff and crew members by way of short films that highlight their rich and vibrant backgrounds. A story spanning almost 30 years, ‘The Heart of What We Do’ new campaign offers guests a glimpse into the lives of the Regent family.

The series of short films will run across Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ social channels to past guests to watch and plan their return with their favorite crew members. To watch the first episode of ‘The Heart of What We Do’ you may click here.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has launched an emotive social media campaign for guests to discover more about the diverse and vibrant backgrounds of the luxury cruise line’s treasured team members – a story that spans almost 30 years. The series of short films, which will run across the Regent Seven Seas Cruises social channels including FacebookInstagramTwitter and YouTube, profiles the broad history and deep roots that connect the ‘Regent family.’

The films will feature a range of much loved and recognizable Regent guest favorites. Each inspired story depicts their personal passions while at home and highlights how both onboard and shoreside team members bring life to the unique ‘Regent’ experience – providing guests with the most enriching journeys at sea.

With new videos being released every two weeks, the campaign’s kickoff video features Cruise Director of Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ newest ship, Seven Seas Splendor, John Barron who is based in Newcastle, England. During his video he touches upon his first job onboard Seven Seas Navigator for the prestigious World Cruise, his ultimate love for performance and how over 21 years this role has progressed into a way of life. Later in the series, guests can expect to meet maître’ d’s, general managers and even head sommeliers across the brand and learn a bit more about them – from a typical day onboard and how they unwind after their shift to their most memorable experiences onboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Cruise director, John Barron from the UK, shares the story of how he and his wife first worked together on board and lifts the curtain on his family life. I have to say – if you ever get a chance to sail on a cruise with John Barron as your Cruise Director, you are in luck. I have traveled with Mr. Barron on several occasions, and he is perhaps one of the world’s greatest Cruise Directors. He is always “on,” his professionalism and get-it-done attitude are irrepressible – and his sense of humor in indefatigable. Always hilarious – with a dry sense of humor as big as the English Channel – Mr. Barron can make your Regent Severn Seas Cruise all the better – as if it actually get any better.

He talks about his passion for entertaining and spending every day making guests smile. Later in the series, maître’ d, Jorge Caeiro, who has been fortunate enough to travel the world three times during his tenure with the cruise line, shows viewers olive groves in Northern Portugal.

“The unrivaled experience that guests receive with Regent Seven Seas Cruises would not be possible without the incredible dedication and passion demonstrated by our crew and shoreside teams,” said Jason Montague, president and chief executive officer, Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “From the very first phone call, to the bittersweet farewell at the end of the cruise, the heart of what we do is creating connections and memories with our guests as we explore the world together. This is perfectly encapsulated in this film series, which we are delighted to share with our guests.”
