AZ, Natural Amusement Par

For those who enjoy out of door activities, Arizona is just one big 100% natural amusement park.  With activities ranging from hiking and fishing to white water rafting, rappelling and riding mules in the Grand Canyon, the out of door choices for families are truly limitless.

But let’s face it, even the most outdoorsy of kids get antsy after a while, so why not include a few kid-friendly destinations on your trip?

If your kids are into history or geography, you are in luck!  Arizona is one of the Four Corners States.  If you head up to the marker they can actually stand in four states at the same time.  Do they love to read about American Indians?  Their love of history can come alive by letting them explore the homes of the cliff dwellers or any of the reservations where Native American Culture is still alive and thriving.

Are your kids more adventurous?  Then you can really make history come to life by taking your kids to Rawhide at Wild Horse Pass. Rawhide is a western theme park.  They have stagecoach rides, mock gunfights, cookouts, live country music, train rides and even gold panning so that your kids can actually feel what it was like to be a cowboy in the Wild West.

If your child is more hands on oriented you are still in luck!  With options such as the Pima Air and Space Museum or the Arizona Science Center available you can ensure that even the most restless kid will find things to do.

Are you camped out at the Grand Canyon?  If so, there is the Junior Ranger Program at the Grand Canyon, or the Grand Canyon Deer farm where there are any number of varieties of deer, llamas, monkeys, miniature donkeys and peacocks just waiting to be played with.  If you are touring through Phoenix then you are not going to want to miss the Phoenix Zoo.

How about the Out of Africa Wildlife Park where animals from around the world live in beautiful naturally designed habitats and where your kids can take Serengeti safari tours?   Or maybe something more unusual, like the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch where the whole family can get involved feeding the ostrich and rainbow lorikeets and buy ostrich egg shells to take home with them?

Of course if you get too overheated with all of this excitement there are always one of Arizona’s many water parks to choose from.    Do you like wave pools and water slides? Then Big Surf Water Park or Sun splash may be right up your alley.

The point is, no matter what your child’s tastes, there is plenty of adventure awaiting them and the whole family; it is just a matter of choosing activities that will include your kids in your vacation and make it a trip truly worth remembering.
