What is the best time in Airlie Beach
The the Whitsundays is a great place to visit year round, but there are select times of year to get the best from your holiday. This is something that everyone wants. When making a choice, you might be focus on a weather factor including the right tempurature, least rainfall, winds, tides or even water tempurature to caclulate the best time.

About the weather
Generally the wettest times of year are the ones that see the lowest number of visitors for the obvious reasons. Tempuratures through the year for the heart of the Great Barrier Reef start with the the first few months of the year peaks in the mid thirties with high humidity. Some poeople will find this uncomfortable. March and April see day time tempuratures reduce toward the July magic days in the high twenties. August and September are considered perfect as spring begins. Warmer wonderful days with little wind seem artificially warmer toward the end of the year. No matter the time of year, the lowest night tempuratures rarely need more than a pull over and jeans, with minimums almost never going below ten degress in July. Nights during the rest of the year would be considered perfect.
In the water tempurature
For swimmers, snorkellers and divers the water tempurature is an often consideration. Peak summer months of December, January and February report the ocean at up to 28 degrees, which tapers to July lows of 22 degrees. For the Whitsundays people do not typically stay in the water for very long in June, July and August with out a wetsuit, but going for a short swim is an option all year round after considering other risks.
Species
“Stinger” season is the time of the year that Box Jelly Fish and Irujdgangi are most prevalent with the chance of a sting in January, February or March, while adjacent months have a lower risk.
Don’t forget that whales are expected in the Whitsundays from July to September with August being the best time.
Holiday vibe
Airlie Beach is a place that would never be considered crowded. The locality and accommodation houses are not that densely built up, making high numbers impossible. The number of backpackers coming to Airlie Beach has come down with the rising nature of the Australian currency. There are a number of events in Airlie including the Airlie Beach Race Week and Whitsunday Reef Festival putting more people in town for more fun. Any school holiday also increases numbers in town, particularly later year and Christmas. The otherwise famous relaxed pace of the Whitsundays pervades for the enjoyment of local and visitor regardless.
