Royal Caribbean gets OK to build new cruise terminal in Bayonne

The board of commissioners for the Port Authority of New York New Jersey has approved plans by Royal Caribbean to build a new cruise terminal building at Cape Liberty in Bayonne, N.J.

The $70 million cruise terminal, which will be paid for by Royal Caribbean, will include a 36,000-square-foot check-in terminal, a 60,000-square-foot luggage area and a parking deck.

Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and be completed by October 2014.

Royal Caribbean will sail the Quantum of the Seas out of Bayonne. The 4,180-passenger ship is scheduled to enter service in November 2014.
