Egypt: Violence Continues, Travel Warning in Effect

Violence continued in Egypt for a second month as the Egyptian Army launched helicopter strikes against possible militant targets in the Sinai Peninsula and sealed off roads leading to Cairo’s Rabaa al-Adawiya and Tahrir Squares, where supporters of the ousted president Mohamed Morsi continue to gather. National train service has been suspended for more than two weeks and will remain blocked until further notice. The government has shut down at least four television stations. The U.S. State Department’s travel warning for Egypt remains in effect and Americans should stay up to date with State Department alerts.
