VisitBritain, Mercury Travels launch year-long campaign to tap Indian …
In order to promote Britain as a premium honeymoon and luxury destination among Indian travellers, VisitBritain along with Mercury Travels today kick-started a year-long campaign, as per a release. The strategic move will see substantial investment from VisitBritain and Mercury Travels. As part of the campaign, Mercury Travels has designed nine itineraries focusing on destinations beyond London including Manchester, Liverpool, York, Peak District, Birmingham, Belfast, Wales and Scotland. As a result of this initiative, VisitBritain expects an increase in the total and incremental bookings and spend in the UK compared to the same period in the previous year.
The campaign aims to increase number of Indian travellers to Britain. Last year, Britain received 339,000 Indian visitors, spending GBP 333 million. The steady rise in long-haul travel within these segments for the past few seasons and their potential to grow incessantly has further emphasised the need for such a partnership campaign. Shivali Suri, Country Manager – India, VisitBritain, said, “This is a valuable partnership with one of the top five travel companies in India, to develop a significant product for the honeymoon and the luxury segment, attracting thousands of Indian visitors to experience Britain like never before. This is a great opportunity for the discerning Indian traveller to explore beyond London for their memorable moments in life.
Aashutosh Akshikar, President CEO, Mercury Travels, said, “At Mercury Travels, we are committed to working with VisitBritain to promote Britain as a fabulous honeymoon and family holiday destination. For the cash-rich time-poor Indian travellers, holidays are a time for family bonding and for building memories that last a lifetime. Great Britain has always fascinated the Indian traveller as it embodies a destination that encompasses glorious heritage, inspiring culture, idyllic countryside and breathtaking natural beauty.
