Tauck is honoring its riverboat cruise director team by naming its four female Tauck cruise directors as godmothers to the company’s new ms Inspire riverboat. This is the first of two new Inspiration Class riverboats Tauck is launching this year, and the ms Inspire will be christened April 3rd in Basel, Switzerland. The second ship, the ms Savor, will be christened on June 21 in Rudesheim, Germany.

The four Tauck cruise directors who will share the christening honors are Bridget Ashton, Lynn Hardcastle, Mary Pierik and Eszter Pusztai. Four male Tauck cruise directors, Tod Griswold, Scott Peters, Jeremy Shifferly and Steve Marchant, will also attend the ceremonies in supporting roles, and will likewise be honored.

Anne Morgan Scully, president of McCabe World Travel, McLean, Va., was also recently tapped as Godmother for one of the new Viking Longships from Viking River Cruises. Viking will be inagurating the ship on March 18 in Avignon, France, among several others.

Viking has yet to confirm Scully’s appointment as Godmother, but Scully is excited at the prospect of being chosen. “I’m honored they looked to the travel industry,” she said. “River ships have come on so strong…so that’s why so many are being built,” Scully stressed. “It’s an incredible way to see the great cities which were built along the rivers.”

As Celebrity Cruises bids farewell to the Celebrity Century, the ship will host special events including a newly introduced “President’s ‘Celebration of the Century’ Cruise,” during a year with a record number of ports of call and 17 new cruise destinations for the brand. The farewell season will also include exclusive onboard programming and special offers for guests. Celebrity Century will leave the fleet in April 2015.

Captain’s Club loyalty members and vacationers can join Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, on the President’s Celebration of the Century Cruise in Asia. The 14-night sailing from Singapore on Celebrity Century will depart March 8, 2015, and guests will travel to destinations in Vietnam and the Philippines. From March 2014 through April 2015, Celebrity Century will visit 77 ports across 32 countries. New destinations include Manila and Boracay, Philippines; Bandar Seri Begawan (Muara), Brunei; and Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar.
