How do your honeymoon plans stack up against those of other couples? According to a new survey by SmarterTravel.com, here are the trends:
■ Honeymoon hot spots: Internationally, it’s the Caribbean, Italy, French Polynesia, Thailand and China. Domestically, it’s Hawaii.
Average cost: $4,183. However, some couples throw caution to the wind and spend up to a crazy $23,000.
■ Most popular honeymoon months: April, May, June, July.
How far in advance most couples book honeymoons: 2½ months.
Most popular honeymoon location: Beach resort, but with some kind of adventure opportunity like kayaking or hiking.
Most distant honeymoon hotspot: Bali, a 9,900-mile flight from Detroit.
Most requested honeymooner amenities: Champagne, rose petals, beach drinks, plunge pools and couples massages, naturally.
