Travel Institute updates wedding-honeymoon training

The Travel Institute has updated its Honeymoons and Destination Weddings specialist course.

The revised course includes the latest statistics, research and trends in honeymoons and weddings.

For example, couples spend nearly $28,000 on destination weddings, 7.4% more than what they spend on typical weddings, according to the 2013 Destinations Wedding Report from the Wedding Report Inc.

The new course has updated information about the most popular wedding destinations and their legal requirements for marriage. It covers how to market through bridal shows and social media, and how to sell to honeymooners.

The course is available in PDF and print formats. It is divided into five lessons and takes between one and two hours to complete.

Agents who pass the course receive the Travel Institute’s Honeymoons and Destination Weddings specialist designation.

There is a second level of certification, the Certified Honeymoons and Destination Weddings specialist. To earn that, agents must complete items from an experiential checklist and have at least one year of travel industry experience.
