Royal Caribbean takes possession of Quantum of the Seas

Ownership of Royal Caribbean International’s new Quantum of the Seas was conveyed at a signing ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany.

The Meyer Werft shipyard built the 4,180-passenger ship, the first in a new class of Royal vessels.

From Bremerhaven, Quantum will go to Southampton, England, for a preview cruise, then accept its first passengers on Nov. 2 for a transatlantic cruise to its home port of Cape Liberty in Bayonne, N.J.

The ship is expected to arrive in New York Harbor on Nov. 10. Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth is scheduled to officially name the ship on Nov. 14, and several introductory cruises will follow.
