Travel Tip: Find Cruise Deals During Dead Week

800px-Carnival-Freedom-Cruise-ShipWe’re now in one of the best times of the year for travel, known in the industry as the “dead week.” And cruises are some of the best places to find deals at this time.

The first dead week took place between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and is here again after New Year’s. That’s the slow period when most people aren’t traveling, so prices drop significantly.

A three- or four-night cruise to the Bahamas on the Carnival Sensation starts at just $270 a person in January.

There’s even a six-night Western Caribbean Carnival cruise in January that starts at $300. You heard that right. That’s $50 a night per person.

A seven-night Caribbean cruise on Holland America costs over a thousand dollars over the holidays, and drops down to just $400 a person on January 4.

You can also save on really exotic travels, assuming you can swing the international flight. Costa Cruises has ships that sail around Dubai and Abu Dhabi for seven nights…from $500 a person.

When you factor in that all your meals and entertainment are included, that’s a great deal.
