Make A Hong Kong Serviced Apartment Your Holiday Abode This Festive Season

Hong Kong is rightly-so mentioned in various travel lists as a top Christmas and New Year destination, with the city’s iconic skyline of skyscrapers dazzling in red and green light displays, shopping malls and shops decked out in yuletide finery, restaurants serving delicious festive dishes and the bustling streets even more bustling than usual.

The annual Hong Kong Winterfest celebrations in December create – as described by the city’s tourism authorities – a magical and romantic ambience. It all culminates in a pulsating party atmosphere on New Year’s Eve as hundreds of thousands of revelers gather around Victoria Harbour for a spectacular pyrotechnics show.

In 2014, people were treated to an enchanting atmosphere at the Statue Square Christmas Tree and hung ‘Love Locks’ on the railings, while 31 December saw revelers wish upon ‘shooting stars’ as they counted down to midnight. At that point the city erupted into an eight minute pyromusical that started on the harbour itself and moved landward, with glittering rings and iridescent colours of the rainbow enveloping skyscrapers around the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Hong Kong is promising an equally fantastic start to 2016, and among the best spots from which to view the brightly lit buildings is at Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade which runs along the harbourside. A cruise on Victoria Harbour is another enchanting option.

The Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show will coincide with the Winterfest from 9 to 28 December 2015, with four show times (each about eight minutes long) nightly at 8.20 pm, 8.45 pm, 9.15 pm and 9.45 pm which will transform the façade of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the landmark Clock Tower at Tsim Sha Tsui into colourful canvases.

Various hotels and serviced apartments in Hong Kong join in the festive mood with holiday promotions and seasonal items at their in-house restaurants and outlets.

For families or groups of friends travelling together, a Hong Kong serviced apartment can be a viable alternative to a conventional hotel, with some offering a comparable level of room, facilities and comfort to that enjoyed at a hotel.

One such property is Bay Bridge Hong Kong by Hotel G in the New Territories district of Tsuen Wan. Formerly called The Bay Bridge Hong Kong Hotel Serviced Apartments, the property recently underwent a renovation of its accommodation and public areas and now offers guests a trendy ‘Urban Escape’ experience.

Looking out over the South China Sea and the landmark Tsing Ma Bridge, Bay Bridge Hong Kong by Hotel G offers a choice of serviced apartment units ranging from the 440-460 sq ft Studio to the 800 sq ft Deluxe 1 Bedroom with Terrace. Facilities available to guests include a restaurant, fully equipped fitness centre, laundry and ironing room and – during the summer – an open air swimming pool with sauna rooms. The property has weekly and monthly stay packages, while shorter stays are also welcomed.

A good deal of the accommodation in Hong Kong is situated close or not too far from the MTR (Mass Transit Railway), which provides for convenient and affordable travel throughout much of the destination.
