Marianna Hewitt’s Honeymoon Guide to Aspen, Colorado

As part of our Insiders’ Guide to the Globe series, we interviewed seven fashion and travel bloggers who’ve turned crisscrossing continents into their (enviable) jobs. With more than 15 million combined Instagram followers, safe to say these ladies are posting from the hottest destinations. But where would they have their passports stamped when it’s time for a romantic vacay? Marianna Hewitt would take to Aspen. Read on to get her insider tips on the perfect Aspen honeymoon!

The Traveler: Marianna Hewitt (@marianna_hewitt)

When Hewitt graduated from Kent State University with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism, she had no idea that just a few years later she would become one of the most sought-after lifestyle and beauty bloggers. Her brand, Life With Me (the “M” and “e” stand for the initials of her first and middle names, Marianna Elizabeth), quickly garnered a loyal following thanks to Hewitt’s easy-to-follow beauty tutorials (yes, please, voluminous ponytail in five minutes!), wanderlust-filled travel diaries, and inspirational style posts. We’re fans of her approachable, bubbly attitude and wholly unique look—which she attributes to her blended Asian, European, Middle Eastern, and Polynesian heritage. As an ambassador for brands like Revolve Clothing and American Express, Hewitt is constantly jetting around the globe—and counts Umbria, Italy; London; and Berkshire, in the English countryside, among her recent travels.

Here, we asked her about her favorite stateside getaway.

The Destination: Aspen, Colorado

“I love visiting Aspen. It’s a short flight from Los Angeles and feels like a winter wonderland,” says Hewitt, who fell for the mountain town during a trip to the World SnowPolo championship in 2015. But Aspen isn’t just for cold-weather honeymooners, she says: “The spring and summer are beautiful for hiking and outdoor activities too.”

Where to Stay: The St. Regis

A Gilded Age manor disguised as a ski resort, the St. Regis Aspen (from $299) spoils couples with OTT amenities like an altitude concierge who will prebook oxygen-infused spa treatments and a session on the hotel’s state-of-the-art oxygen machine (to curb altitude sickness). Plus, the location is amazing: “It’s close to the ski lifts and a few blocks from the shops on Main Street,” Hewitt says.

Where to Eat

Aspen is famous for its restaurants—and its bar scene. “Be sure to après-ski at the Little Nell or the Sky Hotel,” says Hewitt. For dinner, she favors the sushi at Matsuhisa and Kenichi. “After, stay warm with drinks at Caribou Club or Bootsy Bellows,” she recommends.

What to Do

Filled with high-end designer boutiques and trendy stores like Intermix, Aspen is a shopper’s heaven. “But if you want something really special, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon Kemo Sabe, where they make custom-fit cowboy hats,” Hewitt says.
