Caribbean hotel reopenings: Sandals, Royalton, more
Many hotels and resorts, with Covid-19 health, safety and hygiene protocols in place, are ready to welcome guests once again.
Here is a partial list of recently reopened properties and those slated to open their doors in the near future. Read our previous reports on hotel opening dates here.
Sandals South Coast reopens on Oct. 1, to be followed in December with its 20 new swim-up rondoval suites (suites in the round), positioned on a pool more than 17,000 feet long, which Sandals said is the longest pool in the Western Hemisphere. The suites, with 20-foot-high conical ceilings, will include butler service and a soaking tub for two and will bring the total resort room count to 392. The resort’s renovated, 112-room Dutch Village, with access to new swim-up pools, also will debut in December. Reservations for the rondoval suites and the Dutch Village are accepted now for arrivals beginning Dec. 10.
Reopening date for Sandals Royal Bahamian will be Jan. 28; Sandals Emerald Bay, Nov. 1. Its Grenada property reopens Oct. 1. In Jamaica, the Sandals Ochi, opens Nov. 1, and Royal Plantation opens Oct. 8. In St. Lucia, the Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Regency La Toc are open, while Halcyon Beach is slated for a Nov. 1 reopening. The two Barbados resorts have already reopened.
Oct. 1 reopenings for Blue Diamond Resorts include the Royalton Punta Cana, Hideaway at Royalton Punta Cana and Royalton Splash Punta Cana, all in the Dominican Republic; Royalton Blue Waters and Royalton White Sands, both in Montego Bay.
Bolongo Bay Beach Resort on St. Thomas will reopen Oct. 1; Carlisle Bay in Antigua will welcome visitors on Oct. 10.
Reopening on Nov. 1 are the Royalton Bavaro in the Dominican Republic, the Royalton St. Lucia and Hideaway at Royalton St. Lucia and on Nov. 29, the Royalton Antigua and Royalton Grenada.
The Royalton Chic Punta Cana and Mystique St. Lucia will welcome guests on Dec. 1 and Starfish St. Lucia on Dec. 15.
The Hilton La Romana resort on the southeastern coast of the DR reopens Oct. 1.
Elegant Resorts’ Barbados properties, which Marriott acquired in 2019, will relaunch on Oct. 1, including the four all-inclusives comprising Tamarind, Crystal Cove, Waves Hotel Spa and Turtle Beach. The Colony Club and The House, also in Barbados, include breakfast only.
Canouan Estate Resort Villas on the island of Canouan in St. Vincent and the Grenadines reopened earlier this summer and offers 13 residences and standalone villas ranging from two to six bedrooms in size for a total count of 69 rooms.
Bermuda’s Hamilton Princess Beach Club reopened to guests on Aug. 28.
