Sea Cloud Cruises delays its spring debut

Sea Cloud Cruises pushed back its start date to May and will only offer cruises on its three tall ships that start and end in the same port.

The line had planned to begin its spring season in mid-April.

The Sea Cloud will be the first of the ships to launch, out of Piraeus, Greece, to the Greek islands on May 7; the Sea Cloud II will follow on June 2 from Nice, France, alternating Cote d’Azur and Corsica sailings.

The line’s newest masted ship, the Sea Cloud Spirit, will sail its maiden voyage on June 2 from Civitavecchia (Rome), visiting ports in Sicily and Tuscany.

“Because we are focusing on one country and one region per ship, we can bring each destination particularly close to our guests,” said managing director Daniel Schafer.

Sea Cloud had hoped to launch the Sea Cloud Spirit in the Canary Islands in April. The 136-passenger vessel is the line’s first new ship in nearly 20 years.
