Disney leader: Why Jungle Cruise, Splash Mountain need changes

At Walt Disney World, the attraction includes animatronics for Br’er Rabbit and Br’er Bear, cavern scenes, singing bullfrogs, vultures and a steep drop that can splash observers on dry land. Its finale has more characters, a riverboat and the Oscar-winning song “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.” It’s rooted in the 1946 film “Song of the South,” which is set in the post-Civil War times and has been criticized for its portrayal of African-Americans. The Splash Mountain characters come from the animated sequences of the movie.
