Travel Scene: Sometimes it’s ‘You cruise, you lose’

The engine problems of a Celebrity cruise ship that forced it to cancel its remaining Alaska voyages last week affected more than just a few area residents — John and Beth Taylor, of Rochester, on one voyage plus a group of 53 from Rochester and neighboring communities on another.

The Taylors stayed aboard the stricken vessel, the Celebrity Millennium, for several days in Seward, Alaska, hoping repairs could be made in time for their scheduled voyage along the eye-opening Alaska coastline to Vancouver, British Columbia. The voyage also was to have included stops at several ports of call.
