Orlando’s LGBT visitors bureau targets same-sex honeymooners with new ads

Converge Orlando Inc., Orlando’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender visitors bureau, will be marketing Orlando as a honeymoon destination to same-sex couples with a campaign starting Dec. 1.

The effort will target 15 states in which which gays and lesbians can marry legally, the bureau said. The campaign, which is sponsored by Macy’s and The Wedding Alliance, will include print, Facebook ads, and radio promotion, as well as more than $50,000 of Google advertising.

Converge Orlando Inc. said an estimated $150 million that is expected to be spent by same-sex couples on honeymoons during the next year. The group will be enrolling local hotels through Nov. 25 to participate in the campaign. Offers from these businesses will be listed on OrlandoGayTravel.com/honeymoon.
