Traveling to Africa and seeing the great variety of wildlife, exotic cultures, and amazing natural wonders is a dream for many of us. The African continent is vast, but those who love to cruise can touch on the edges of Africa from a cruise ship and on a pre- or post-cruise extension.

I flew to Cape Town, South Africa and sailed from there on the marvelous Silversea Silver Wind around the Cape and up the coast to Tanzania. It was an amazing adventure, and we saw much more of Africa than I would have expected, given that we were never more than a half-day’s drive from the coast. We had wonderful service, food, and amenities onboard and got to see the “big 5” in their native habitats in the wilds of Africa. What more could a cruise lover ask for?
