Grab one of these last-minute holiday cruise deals
Maybe the snow is already driving you crazy — or your relatives are doing the same. Or maybe you just feel suddenly in need of a tropical break. Whatever the reason, there is still some limited space available on holiday Caribbean and Bahamas cruises.
Be aware that the fares for Christmas and New Year’s sailings are higher than if you wait until the first week in January, which is a particularly cheap time to cruise.The good news, though, is that with these last-minute deals you have a shot of getting on holiday sailings that don’t cost an arm and a leg.
Here is a sampling of the options:
Carnival Liberty:Snag a week-long cruise, round-trip from Miami, embarking December 21, from $579. The ship visits St. Thomas, Grand Turk, Nassau and San Juan (on Christmas Day).
Celebrity Reflection:Check out the newest Solstice-class ship on this sailing, with fares from $749. The one-week Eastern Caribbean cruise embarks Fort Lauderdale on December 21. Port calls include St. Thomas, St. Maarten (on Christmas Day) and San Juan.
Carnival Ecstasy: Cruise from Port Canaveral on December 21 for a 5-day Bahamas cruise that calls at Royal Caribbean’s private island, CocoCay, as well as in Freeport (on Christmas Day) and Nassau. Fares from $439 for an inside cabin, $509 for an ocean-view cabin. If December 21 is too early for you, you can do the same itinerary on a New Year’s sailing, embarking December 30, from $449.
Carnival Glory: Set sail on a round-trip cruise from Miami on December 22, and spend Christmas Day in Costa Maya, Mexico. Port calls on the Western Caribbean itinerary also include Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and Grand Cayman. Fares from $629.
Celebrity Silhouette: Cruise on this Solstice-class ship out of Fort Lauderdale on an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, embarking on December 22. Fares from $749. You call at St. Kitts and San Juan and spend Christmas Day in St. Maarten.
Royal Princess:Check out Princess Cruises’ newest and largest ship on a 7-day round-trip sailing from Fort Lauderdale. The Eastern Caribbean cruise embarks on December 22. Port calls are the private Bahamas beach of Princess Cays, St. Maarten and St. Thomas (on Christmas Day). Fares from $699 for an inside; from $799 for a balcony cabin.
Celebrity Constellation: Take off on a 5-day cruise on this Millennium-class ship, round-trip from Fort Lauderdale on December 23. Ocean-view cabins are priced from $449, inside cabins from $399. Port calls are Key West and Cozumel. Santa will find you at sea on Christmas Day.
Costa Luminosa: Embark on a 10-day sailing, round-trip from Miami on December 27, and spend the first day of the New Year in Grand Cayman. Fares from $699. Port calls also include Nassau, Grand Turk, Ocho Rios, Roatan and Cozumel.
Norwegian Pearl:A 7-day round-trip New Year’s cruise leaves on this ship from Miami on December 29, priced from $699. The Western Caribbean itinerary visits Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Spend New Year’s Eve at sea.
Holland America’s Eurodam: Snag a fare from $649 per person for a one-week New Year’s cruise, embarking from Fort Lauderdale on December 29. Port calls are St. Thomas, Grand Turk, San Juan (on New Year’s Day) and the cruise line’s private island, Half Moon Cay.
